Kyle Gentle,

, C.H.E.K.

Kyle has been working as personal trainer for the past six years. He recently earned the distinction of CHEK Exercise Coach, which is the culmination of several certifications and areas of study including Primal Movement Patterns, Scientific Back Training, Core Conditioning, Program Design and Nutrition/Wellness counselling.

Kyle is also an Agatsu Level 2 Kettlebell Instructor and a Blue Short level Muay Thai practitioner (Siam No. 1). While completing his Law Clerk Diploma at Fanshawe College, Kyle discovered the world of personal training and has not looked back. He holds Can-Fit-Pro certifications as both a Personal Training Specialist and Nutrition Wellness Specialist.

Kyle is relentless in his pursuit of physical excellence. As a Natural Fitness Physique competitor, he is a model of functional strength and performance, mastering traditional and not-so-traditional Strong-Man feats such as:

  • double clean & press (2 x 32Kg Kettlebells)
  • the 'human flag' and the 'human lever'
  • loaded pistol squats and pistol squat jumps up to a step

And that's just for starters! Kyle brings his enduring sense of fun and passion to every training session - his own and those he conducts for IronKore.

Scott Mundy

, B.A. Honours Kinesiology and Rehab. Science, CSCS

As a recent Kinesiology grad, Scott is pursuing a career in physiotherapy and athlete development. During his studies at the University of Western Ontario, he worked as an Athletic Trainer for the Ontario Soccer Association and assisted with the Mustangs Varsity Strength and Conditioning program.

Scott is an NSCA Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist, and a Certified Sport and Exercise Nutrition coach. He has gained valuable experience in a variety of clinical settings including a multidisciplinary sports medicine clinic and athletic development center working with elite athletes. He has also worked with traumatic brain injury patients at Toronto Rehab Hospital.

In addition to his specialized training, Scott is a certified CSIA ski instructor and an advanced Naui Scuba Diver. His passion for life and sport is the driving force in his athletic pursuits including gymnastics, triathlons, a natural bodybuilding, mountaineering, surfing big barrels and adventure racing. "I train to get the most out of my body so I can get the most out of my life."

Juan Martinez

In addition to being a professional artist, master instructor at The Academy of Realist Art and former lawyer, Juan is a Group Training instructor at IronKore. His interest in the human body and physical performance has been a lifelong passion to which he has dedicated hundreds of hours of study and research.

He is a former competitive racquetball and rugby player, having represented his province in these sports for six years. He has studied the Japanese martial art of Kendo for 12 years, earning a 3rd degree black belt. Juan recently completed his HKC certification in kettlebell training and continues to pursue this along with his studies in nutrition and evolutionary biology.

Juan considers himself a "Physical Culturist" whose goal is to optimize health and vitality in his own life and for his clients.

Martin Colangelo

, current 2nd year student, University of Toronto, PTS

Martin is a highly decorated football lineman, having played competitively for the past 13 seasons. His achievements include 3 straight Metro Bowl championships with the St. Michael's Kerry Blues (serving as team captain for 2 of those years), a two-time Toronto Star All-Star and a Best Lineman award. While playing at Queen's, Martin was part of the 2009-10 Golden Gaels team that captured the Yates Cup, the Mitchell Bowl and the Vanier Cup.

Martin's passion for physical achievement has driven his own training. He is a certified Personal Training Specialist and has worked almost exclusively with kettlebells for the past two years in pursuit of the RKC (Russian Kettlebell Challenge) certification.

Better known to our Ironkids as the 'Gentle Giant', Martin is instrumental in assisting with IronKore's summer camp program. As recipient of an Outstanding Citizen Letter of Commendation from St. Michael's College School, he is a superb role model who leads by example. Martin regularly assists with our Small Group Training sessions.

David Dubois

, B. Sc., M. Sc. Physical Education - Vice-President, Operations

Dave has been active in the sport and fitness industry for more than 35 years. He has amassed a wealth of experience as being the former Director of Athletics and Recreation at Ryerson University as well as a former Recreation Supervisor with the City of Toronto Department of Parks and Recreation. Additionally, Dave is a past President of the Ontario University Athletics Association and holds Level III Hockey, Level I Soccer, Judo, Basketball and Tennis coaching certifications. He served seven years with the Canadian Navy as a Physical Education Recreation Instructor and Ship's Diver and has completed one tour of duty with UN Peacekeeping forces in the Middle East.

Dave has worked extensively with high needs and at-risk populations in northern Saskatchewan and inner-city Toronto. His work on the internationally recognized "Dufferin Mall Project" earned him a Canada 125 award for outstanding community service with respect to developing and implementing successful approaches to eliminating youth gang violence.

In addition to his duties at IronKore, Dave is an active volunteer coach and administrator with community sport organizations in west-end Toronto.

Sharon Dubois

Sharon Dubois

, President

Sharon is a Personal Trainer, Fitness Consultant and former Corporate Image Consultant. Her experience in the fitness industry includes more than 12 years as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor. She has also been a guest lecturer at Humber College, Fitness and Health Promotion program. Sharon has studied and is trained in post-rehab exercise programs, kettlebell training and classical ballet.

As a Corporate Image Consultant, she has presented and provided services to individual clients as well as corporations - including SunLife, Specialties in Motion, Goodman & Carr LLP, and McCarthy Tetrault LLP.

Sharon is also a competitive dragon boat paddler having earned three bronze medals in the World Club Crew Championships in Macau, China, July 2010.
